Wrap Up Week #2

This week we covered leadership styles. We watched Ender's Game. I had only previously watched part of that movie so it was good to watch the whole movie again. We discussed the leadership styles in the movie, what we thought worked and what didn't. For example, I thought Ender had a great leadership style. He worked alongside his teammates but behaved in a way that everyone knew he was still the leader. He commanded respect without demanding it. He understood his teammates and that made his leadership style work.

We also completed a DISC Personality Test. I always find these interesting. I was glad to find out that I had a very even mix of personality traits. I would rather be balanced between two good leadership styles rather than strong in just one. I think I can have a greater influence on others if my personality traits aren't too strong in the Dominant.

We also covered review of Modern Healthcare articles. I thought this was a great activity because it keeps us updated and the new and latest news in the healthcare industry. If it weren't for class I probably wouldn't be looking up this information and yet it was very information with topics covering research, safety, and technology.

Lastly, we reviewed and wrote about characteristics of leaders. We connected characteristics of leadership with how we can use those characteristics at work. For example, Leadership is About People and Relationships. I went on to elaborate that having a healthy relationship with coworkers makes it easier to work hand-in-hand in patient care.

REFLECTION FOR THE WEEK:
I wasn't able to participate in team activities this week. However, what I did learn about leadership styles I plan to incorporate into my work environment. I plan to pay closer attention to how I interact with others and how my actions affect those that I am working with. I feel that we should all be leaders working together for the greater cause, our patients.
